Track teams compete at Fairview, Covington-Douglas

The Canton track teams hit the road last week, as both the high school and fifth/ sixth-grade teams attended meets. The high school boys and girls competed in Fairview last Tuesday, while the fifth/sixth graders were at Covington-Douglas the following morning.

For the high school girls, Jenny Delgado led the way for the Lady Tigers. She not only placed in the long jump for the second-straight meet, but also tied for third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 19.30. Delgado also placed sixth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 59.70 seconds.

Hopelin Hood also had her most impressive showing of the young season. Hood came up just a tenth of a second shy of qualifying for the finals in both the 100 and 200-meter dash. Her time of 14.60 in the 100-meter was her top mark thus far, as was her time in the 200-meter race of 30.20.
