Canton squads win 3 of 4 in Lions Club tourney

Last Monday, Canton hosted the Lion’s Club 5th and 6th Grade Basketball Tournament in which the Tigers welcomed teams from Alva, Okeene and Thomas in what was supposed to be their final action of the season. However, while all teams were able to get their first round of games played, weather postponed the final slate of competition to this week.

The tournament separated fifth-grade students from the sixth graders for four-total brackets in the event. The Tigers got off to a strong start in their hometown event, winning three of their opening four games with all coming against Okeene.

The Canton fifth-grade girls defeated the Lady Whippets 18-9. Meghan Meat led all scorers with 10 points in the contest. Kamdyn Hulse added six of her own, and Addisyn Smith added a pair of free throws.
