Canton Mudslingers compete in Mid America Basketball Tournament in Enid
The Canton Mudslingers competed in the Mid America Youth Basketball Tournament in Enid this past weekend, taking seventh place in the event. The Mudslingers are comprised of only Canton High School athletes, and won a pair of games at the event, after going winless the prior week in Edmond.
Once again, Canton was one of the few teams that was made up of players from only one school. In group play, the Mudslingers kicked off the event with a 50-21 loss to the eventual champs, High Plains Storm 11th. They would follow that up by defeating Oklahoma Bible Academy 38-22.
The victory was a big accomplishment, considering coaches Darren Scott and Terry McVicker tried a few new things in this tournament on the offensive and defensive end. Obviously there were ups and downs, but by the end of the threeday event, Canton was starting to have success in a number of those sets.
