Claysen Scott fires the ball into the flats for a first down pick up. Not only did Scott have an exceptional day throwing the football, but he was also one of Canton’s most active defenders, picking off four passes.
Canton hosts Passing League; Wins two in tournament
On June 17 and 18, the Canton Tigers hosted their Summer Passing League to wrap up their final team action of the off-season. With Seiling, Okeene and Beaver all traveling to compete in the event, the four teams squared off in a variety of exhibitions on the first day, before playing in a tournament to conclude the event.
Canton breezed through their first game of the tournament against Beaver, before beating Okeene on a late, go-ahead touchdown from Claysen Scott to Josh Edwards. That paired the Tigers up against their conference-rival, the Seiling Wildcats in the Championship Game.
The two teams traded touchdowns for much of the contest but with a little over three minutes to play, Seiling took the lead for good to steal the title from Canton.
Claysen Scott had an exceptional performance for Canton, as he routinely made big throws down the field during the tournament. Josh Edwards was his favorite target with the deep ball, but the Tigers also got solid efforts from Jake Sinclair, Weston Waldrep, Seth Bromlow, Johnnie Burton and Trevor Ross.
