Canton Lake Season Brought To Close

Labor Day weekend signified the last of the intense heat and brought lake season to a close. Park Ranger Shawna Polen says every main campground was completely full, and as many as sixty boats or more were on the water throughout the holiday weekend afternoons.

In anticipation of having a full park, three rangers, including Polen, were working the Labor Day weekend. In addition, a Blaine County Sheriff’s Deputy and Lake Patrol had been patrolling that weekend. The crowd was certainly present, with numbers being comparable to this summer’s lake season opener holiday, Memorial Day weekend. However, despite the numbers, Polen said everyone was on their best behavior with rangers only responding to minor calls, such as music too loud after quiet hours.
