Kendricks Sleeper of El Reno, OK honors his two young daughters, Yasmina Sleeper and Sienna Sleeper, by requesting his aunt Joyce Martinez to dance alongside them at the Gourd Dance Fundraiser this past Sunday evening at the Cheyenne & Arapaho Community Center Gym. The Barefoot Pow Wow Committee is holding monthly dances to raise money for the Pow Wow that will take place in August 2020.

With the beating of the drum, men took up their rattles to dance, women took their places to dance in support of the men, and voices of both men and women were raised in song. Members of the Cheyenne & Arapaho tribe took part in the Gourd Dance on Sunday, Sept 15 as part of a fundraising event for the August 2020 Barefoot Pow Wow to be held just outside of Canton.

Barefoot Pow Wow Committee hosts monthly dance to raise money

Planning for the 88th Annual Barefoot Pow Wow is underway and fundraising efforts have begun, like the Gourd Dance fundraising event that took place Sunday, Sept 15 at the Cheyenne & Arapaho Community Center Gym.

Lynn Littlehawk and other committee members are already hard at work gathering the support needed to put on this traditional event that will take place the last weekend of August 2020 at Barefoot Park Pow Wow Grounds, 3 ½ miles southeast of Canton.
