Top five sports moments for 2019-20 school year; Pair of comebacks earn Lady Tigers third place

In the second installment of this five-part series revisiting the top moments from the past year in Canton sports, we bounce back to the Lady Tigers’ performance in the 58th Buffalo Invitational Tournament. The Canton girls would earn third place in that tournament, thanks to comeback victories over Hardesty-Yarbrough and Fargo-Gage/Ft. Supply.

“In those game we had to do some things that we didn’t normally do,” stated Coach David Baldwin. “We had to press some. We didn’t shoot it well so we had to run on offense. We had to keep our heads in it because in girls’ basketball you are always a few turnovers or a few possessions away from getting back into a game. We got in some tough spots, but we found ways to dig out of them.”

Heading into the event, Canton was on their hottest streak of the season, having won three of their past five games. Still, winning third place would be anything but easy for the Lady Tigers. In their first game of the contest, Hardesty-Yarborough would jump out to a big lead early on the back of their talented post, Brianna Estrada.
