Top Five Sports Moments for 2019-20 School Year: Junior High football Tigers run wild on Corn Bible

In the first installment of our five-part series revisiting the top sports moments in Canton this past year, we start with the junior high football team’s crushing 38-0 victory over Corn Bible Academy to close out their season. It was day that started off with the news that Coach Caleb Howell would not be able to attend, as he was at the hospital awaiting the birth of their first child.

While Howell was with his wife, Kylie, the Tigers were preparing to put up there most dominant effort of the season with Coach Patrick Rich and David Smith splitting duties on the sideline. It was a game in which Canton’s offense was clicking on all cylinders, scoring each of their five touchdowns from twenty yards or further.

“It was incredible the way we were able to move the ball and score in that game,” explained Coach Patrick Rich. “It’s tough to call offensive plays in a game like this because you want your kids to finish out the game strong, but you also don’t want to set a standard of continuing to pound a team that isn’t having any success like some of the other schools in this area do.
