Tigers return to workouts after July 4th break
The Canton Tigers have been hard at work in the weight room since starting their workouts at the beginning June. After taking last week off, the boys are now back at it, in preparations for fall and winter sports.
“This is a huge benefit for us,” explained Coach Caleb Howell. “If we don’t have these opportunities in the summer, then our football kids aren’t going to be physically ready for the contact this fall. We missed our spring practices, but we have a lot of kids showing up. They are putting in the extra work. They know the task at hand, and we are getting anywhere from 15-20 kids out of the 24 we’ve got at the older level. I can’t really complain about that given the circumstances.” The week leading up to
The week leading up to the Fourth of July is typically the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association’s mandatory dead period. However, with the unusual circumstances of the past four months led the OSSAA to lift the dead period in order to give school districts the option to make up for lost time with their athletes.
