Tiger basketballers peaking at the right time
As February approaches, so do the playoffs for the Canton Tigers who played three games last week with all them coming on the road. While the girls got back to their winning ways by sweeping the week, the boys took two out of three to get back over .500.
The Lady Tigers opened the week on Tuesday against Sharon-Mutual in game that Canton took control of early thanks to Haylee Nusz. Nusz connected on four first-quarter shots from beyond the arc to help build a nine-point advantage for the Lady Tigers.
From there, Canton ran the lead up to double-digits by halftime, and 16 entering the fourth quarter. The Lady Trojans closed the deficit a bit in the final frame, but the contest was never in doubt as the Lady Tigers won 45-32.
Nusz led all scorers with 20 points, while Roxy Linder added 15 of her own. Arianna Green put in five as well, while Hopelin Hood scored three and Jenni Delgado scored two.
On Thursday, Canton would take on Okeene in a rematch of the Lady Tigers 13-point victory back in December. This time, the Lady Whippets would not make things easy on Canton only took a two-point lead into the half.
