Scott pegged honorable mention for All-NW Oklahoma Team
Canton’s Claysen Scott was an honorable mention selection when the Enid News and Eagle released the list of their All-Northwest Oklahoma basketball teams, honoring basketball players from all over this region of the state.
“It is a great feeling to know that all the hard work I’ve put in over the years is being recognized,” stated Scott. “It is a great honor to know that the coaches saw that.”
Scott helped lead the Tigers to a 16-11 record over his senior year, as Canton advanced to the Regional Round of the playoffs. The 16 wins is the third-straight year the Tigers have put up a double-digit win total after failing to do so over the course of the prior 15 years.
“What Claysen and the other seniors have been able to accomplish,” explained Coach Patrick Rich. “They have been able to change the perception of Canton basketball in the surrounding communities. That needed to change, and kids like Claysen have made it happen with their dedication to basketball and hard work. Him winning this award is a tribute to that, and has maybe made it possible for future Tigers to be honored like this when they deserve it.” Scott was one of a special
