Lady Tigers elementary squad runner-up at Okeene
With the calendar turning to November, basketball is getting started, and for the Canton Tigers’ fifth/sixth-grade teams, the season got underway with a tournament in Okeene. While the boys got off to a rough start dropping all three games at the event, the Lady Tigers’ looked mighty impressive, coming within seconds of bringing home the tournament championship.
In their opening matchup, Canton defeated Fairview by a score of 18-6. Alexus Meat led the way with 12 points, while Imiyah Littlejohn added four and Stella Red Hat chipped in two. The Lady Tigers followed that up with a victory over Okeene’s sixth graders by a score of 47-17.
Once again, Meat led the scoring with 14 points, while Red Hat added 12 of her own. Littlejohn scored 10 in the contest and Ryleigh Cheney pitched in four.
