Junior High track places seventh at Ringwood Meet

Last week’s rain wasn’t enough to keep the Canton Junior High track teams from competing in a pair of meets in Okeene and Ringwood. While neither team was able to crack the top 10 on Monday in Okeene, both the girls and boys finished seventh in Ringwood on Thursday with 37 and 29 points respectively.

For the girls, Sariah Vargas collected a pair of medals in the high jump. She earned the Lady Tigers’ only points in Okeene when she tied for sixth with a jump of four feet, four inches. In Ringwood, Vargas jump of four feet, two inches was good enough for third.

Blair Dowell also competed in the high jump, and won second place in Ringwood with her height of four feet, six inches. In the long jump, Lea Vowell took third place with her leap of 12 feet, 10 ¼ inches.
