Junior high boys edge Okeene,19-18

Prior to heading into the Christmas Break, the Canton Junior High basketball teams hosted Okeene, splitting the two games with the rival-Whippets. While the girls struggled to get on track in their 30-5 loss to Okeene, the boys pulled out a one-point victory by a score of 19-18.

Ball-handling was the root of the problem in the Lady Tigers lopsided loss on Tuesday, with Canton committing 15 turnovers in the first half and 20 on the night. Okeene held the Lady Tigers to three points in the first half, before Canton was limited to only a basket in the second.

Aubrey Cheney hit a pair of shots from the high post to score four of Canton’s points, while Blair Dowell knocked down a free throw in the second quarter.
