Confidence, enthusiasm highlight Tigers’ first week of football practice
Last week marked the opening of football season for kids across the state of Oklahoma. Teams were officially allowed to start practicing Monday, August 12, while their first opportunity to practice in full pads was on Friday.
For Jeremy Brashears and the Canton Tigers, it’s been a long wait following an offseason full of preparation that included team camp at the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, a passing league that Canton hosted, and two months’ worth of hard work in the strength and conditioning program. Now, Canton hopes to follow up the best season they’ve had in four years with even more success in 2019.
While the summer included unusually mild temperatures thanks to the long bouts of rain Oklahoma received, August has produced the triple-digit heat that traditionally debuts in May. Still, the Tigers were hard at work surviving the heat, with only one goal on their mind.
