Canton track squads compete in regional track meet

Canton headed to the Northwest Regional in Cherokee to compete in the OSSAA Track and Field regional on Saturday. While the Lady Tigers finished 15th with 8.33 points, the boys placed 21st with a total of five points.

For the Lady Tigers, Taylor Dowell tied for fourth in the high jump with a height of four feet, four inches. Because of the tie, Dowell split seven points reserved for the fourth, fifth and sixth-place finishers three ways, to earn 2.33 points for her team.

Her performance also tied a season-high that Dowell has cleared on numerous occasions.

In the long jump, Arianna Green set a personalbest with her distance of 14 feet, 9 ½ inches. That jump qualified Green for the finals, where she finished eighth, just under four inches shy of earning points for the team.
