Canton teams earn Gayle Hajny Consolation Titles
The Canton High School basketball teams kicked off the season last week with their hometown Gayle Hajny Invitational. At the event, both the girls and boys bounced back from opening-night losses with a pair of wins each to earn the Consolation Title.
The Lady Tigers opened the tournament with a 64-51 loss to the Arnett Lady Wildcats. Canton actually got off to a good start against Arnett, and at one time, had a 13-point lead in the second quarter.
Still, the Lady Wildcats made a run to close out the first half, and took a one-point advantage into the break. That momentum would carry into the third quarter as well where Arnett led by as much as 15, and Canton fell to enter the Consolation side of the bracket.
