Canton splits semester finales with Okeene
The Canton Tigers closed out the fall semester with a pair of home games against their familiar foes from Okeene on Tuesday, December 18. While the Lady Tigers won 50-37 over the Lady Whippets, the boys suffered their second heartbreaking loss at the hands of Okeene by a score 60-58.
For the Lady Tigers, this was their first matchup of the year against Okeene after the two never crossed paths in Canton’s Gayle Hajny Invitational two weeks prior. The anticipation must have transformed into motivation as Canton jumped out early to stun the Lady Whippets.
Haylee Nusz led the early charge with a pair of threes in the first quarter to account for six of her eight points in the opening frame. That helped build a six-point advantage for the Lady Tigers heading into the second where they took the game over.
