Preston Foster drives in for a layup attempt in Canton’s contest against Okeene in the Canton Lions Club Fifth and Sixth-Grade Tournament. The Tigers were one of four schools to compete in the event, including Okeene, Alva and Fairview.
The Canton sixth-grade Lady Tigers finished second place in the Canton Lions Club Basketball Tournament. They defeated Fairview in the opening round before being beaten by Alva in the Championship Game.
Chloe Hooten drives to the basket in the fifth graders contest against the Lady Whippets. Hooten not only helped Canton win the Consolation Title by a score of 10-8, but she also was one of three Tigers to win the freethrow contest, joining Caden Hooten and Kamdyn Hulse.
Canton Lions Club hosts 5th and 6th tournament
The Canton Lions Club hosted their annual fifth and sixth grade basketball tournament on Monday February 17 and Tuesday February 18, with four teams from across Northwest Oklahoma taking part in the event. Okeene, Alva, Fairview and the hometown-Tigers all competed as the teams were split into four brackets.
The Fairview Yellowjackets won the fifth-grade boys’ bracket while the Lady Jackets took the title for the fifth-grade girls. The Okeene Whippets took home the hardware for the sixth-grade boys, and the Alva Lady Bugs were crowned in the bracket.
