Canton’s playoff hopes hinge on defeating Turpin

When Canton travels to Turpin this Friday, they will be doing so with their playoff hopes on the line, as the Tigers must defeat the Cardinals by a substantial margin in order to earn a playoff berth. Coach Caleb Howell and the Tigers are coming of their bye week after dropping each of their first two district games against Laverne and Seiling.

A week ago, the Tigers went into their bye week knowing that this game would be their last chance to get into the playoffs, but after Turpin upset Seiling last Friday, Canton must now win by a large enough margin to tip the tiebreaker in their favor.

“Regardless of what points have or haven’t been scored, we have to come out and play our game,” stated Howell. “Like I’ve told them before, we need to worry about the things we can control. We can’t worry about what’s happened or what might happen, or the points that have or haven’t been scored. We have to focus on what we are going to do.”
