Tiger track standouts compete at state meet
The Canton Tigers traveled to Western Heights High School last weekend for the OSSAA State Track and Field Championship. A year ago, four Lady Tigers made the trip to the State Meet, but in 2019, it was the team of senior Deonte Murray, juniors Josh Edwards and Claysen Scott, and sophomore Weston Waldrep.
The four qualified in the 800-meter relay after finishing fifth last week at the Regional Meet with a season-best time of 1:38.22.
After being rained out on the first day, all races were run on Saturday as timed finals, as opposed to having preliminaries and finals. That meant Canton had one chance to put together their best effort in order to make the medal stand.
