Sponsors work behind the scenes for History Day
Fourth of July came and went with fireworks displays and lazy lake days. As the lake was full of campers and everyone enjoyed a day or two off from work, Penny Heath and Dora Fuqua stayed busy devoting time and energy to the Canton Fireworks Stand as they do year after year.
Heath and Fuqua both spend countless hours each year supervising the kids who volunteer at the fireworks stand. That stand, located in One Stop’s parking lot, is the Canton History Day participants’ annual fundraiser. Each year, thousands of dollars worth of fireworks are trafficked into and out of the stand each morning and night by the kids, teachers, parents and last, but certainly not least: two of several teacher volunteers.
