Police chief to remain on leave until December

The Canton Board of Trustees met on Monday, Sept 30 at 6 p.m. for a Special Meeting to discuss and take action on several personnel issues related to the Canton Police Department as well as other business.

The Board first approved the 2020 Estimate of Needs. They then passed a motion to resend a bonus check in the amount of $500 to Police Officer Billy Kammerzell and accepted Kammerzell’s resignation letter effective Sept 9.

After taking care of routine business, the board adjourned to executive session to discuss personnel issues at hand. Returning at 7:48 p.m. the board passed a motion in regards to Police Chief Robert Murray to “continue with the Leave of Absence without pay until Dec 12, 2019 and to re-evaluate at that time.”
