Cimarron Electric Cooperative connects through gift of water

After serving Oklahoma for 83 years, the Cimarron Electric Cooperative continues to connect to its local communities through the gift of water.

Cimarron Electric COO Jeff Hyatt said they have donated almost 60,000 bottles of water throughout their nine-county service territory for school events and other activities to give back to the community.

“We feel like we’re giving back to the community and to the people that live on our lines. We don’t necessarily serve all the towns, but their kids go to the schools and are a part of the community life,” Hyatt said.

Cimarron Electric services parts of nine counties in northwest Oklahoma and it distributes electricity from 22 substations, over 4,700 miles of line to 15,500 meters. They have upgraded six of their substations and lines that supplied them, which has helped with the reliability of service. Hyatt said technology has also allowed the cooperative to run more efficiently.
