The Presidential Election of 2020 is over but the legacy of its aftermath will live on forever.
This past week, Oklahoma received its first shipment of COVID-19 vaccines and frontline health care workers began to receive their shots as part of the first phase of inoculations. Not only have many areas of the state been scrambling to find adequate ICU bed space during the pandemic, but staffing levels have also been a concern. Keeping those frontline doctors, nurses and other health care workers protected must be a priority.
As I begin my journey representing House District 59 at the state Capitol, I would like to acknowledge the outstanding and tireless efforts of Representative Mike Sanders for the last 12 years. He has set a very high standard of service that I intend to maintain in the months and years to come.
The 2021 legislative session is fast approaching, one more sign that 2020 is almost in the rearview mirror. Now is the time for child advocates to begin preparing for what likely will be a very interesting year at the Oklahoma State Capitol.
