Luther “Lukes” RedHat September 18, 1950 - March 29, 2017
A traditional all-night wake service began at 7:00 p.m., Sunday evening, April 2, 2017 at the Canton Native American Gym for Luther “Lukes” Red Hat, 66, of rural Longdale, OK. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Canton Native American Gymnasium with Reverend Gerald Panana and Reverend George Akeen, Jr. officiating. Interment followed in the Canton Reinterment (Chief’s) Cemetery near Canton Lake under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Canton. Luther Red Hat was born on September 18, 1950 at Clinton, OK to parents William Wayne and Emma Annie (Curtis) Red Hat. He departed this life at Oklahoma City, OK on March 29, 2017. Luther worked as a mechanic and also at a nursing home as a certified nurse’s aid. He married Wanada “Tweety” Whitecrow on January 4, 1977. Luther was preceded in death by his wife, Wanada “Tweety” Red Hat; father William Wayne Red Hat, Sr.; mother Emma (Curtis) Red Hat; grandfather Edward Red Hat; grandmother Minnie Bull Red Hat; three sisters, Marilyn Red Hat, Minoma Red Hat Koshiway and Mary White Hat; two brothers, Edward Red Hat, II and Albert Red Hat, Sr.; one nephew, Chris Red Hat; two nieces, Michelle Red Hat and Melissa Big Medicine; Survivors include two daughters, Augustine Red Hat of El Reno, OK and Kala Whitecrow of Oklahoma City, OK; two brothers, William Wayne Red Hat, Jr. and Steve Red Hat, Sr. both of Longdale, OK; four sisters, Eva Big Medicine of Weatherford, OK, Zola Old Bear and Pat Whiteeagle both of Longdale, OK and Pam Red Hat of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren, Cheyenne Red Hat, Shaynna Walker and Glen Walker, Jr.; one great-granddaughter, Meya.
