Joy May Cavett Nix December 9, 1932 - December 22, 2016

Funeral services for Joy May Cavett Nix, 84, of Canton, OK was held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Canton Christian Church with Chaplain Danny Cavett and Steve Driskill officiating. Interment followed in Eagle City Cemetery under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Canton, OK. Joy was born on December 9, 1932 at Canton, OK to Edwin Nicholas and Bula Mae (Sanderson) Burghardt. She departed this life on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Oklahoma City, OK. Joy grew up in the Canton area and graduated from Canton High School with the class of 1950. She married Harry Ray Cavett on May 20, 1950 at Canton, OK. Joy worked for several schools and restaurants, Hollytex, the flower shop in Canton, was a speech therapist in Keyes, OK and retired as a data technician with 3M in 1995. She was a member of the PEO, the American Legion Auxiliary for women and had recently moved her membership back to the Canton Christian Church. Joy married Bill Nix on December 8, 1984 at Canton, OK. Joy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harry Ray Cavett; three brothers, LeRoy, Ray and Gene Burghardt; one nephew, Keith Caywood; Survivors include her husband, Bill Nix of Weatherford, OK; three children, daughter Diana Campbell and husband Tim of Yale, OK, daughter Deborah Copeland and husband Glen of Keyes, OK and son Dean Ray Cavett and wife Sandra of Canton, OK; step-children Greg Nix, Mike Nix and Shelly Denton; one sister, Cleta Fay Caywood and husband Jim of Easley, SC; six grandchildren, Laramie Campbell, Hesper Heimann and husband Cody, Brandy Jeffries and husband Scott, Maj. Corbin Copeland and wife Julie, Darren Cavett and wife Amanda and Joanie Koos and husband Cole; great-grandchildren Wyatt Heimann, Rhett Heimann, Alexandria Jeffries, Brinleigh Jeffries, Kylee Copeland, Justin Copeland, Baustin Prather, Carson Cavett, Kason Doak, Cambree Cavett and Grant Koos; and numerous stepgrandchildren and step-greatgrandchildren; Memorials may be made to the Canton Christian Church through the funeral home at P.O.
